About this piece

Two Washington County, Pennsylvania school pieces.
• The School Annual, Washington County, Pennsylvania — Report for School Year Ending July 1, 1947 and Directory of Teachers and Directors for School Year 1947-1948. Pink leather-grain card covers, about 6.4 x 9.1 inches. Owner names "Miss L.A. Wise" (crossed out) and "Joe Vetter" in ink on the cover.
• Program of the 96th Teachers' Institute of Washington County, October 24 and 25, 1946, Washington High School, Washington, Pennsylvania — folded 4-page program, about 4.5 x 7.5 inches, with a typed revised-schedule slip pasted inside.
Used condition: the annual has dark stains along the cover edges, creasing and scuffing on the back and light edge wear; the program has heavy foxing on the inside page and slip, toning, a center fold and a small chip at the top corner.

The institute program names County Superintendent W. H. Donaldson and his assistants, speakers including Robert Kazmayer, Orlo M. Brees and Glenn Drake, a luncheon at the George Washington Hotel ballroom, and music by the Washington H.S. Band and the Trinity High School Mixed Chorus. Together they document the county's teachers right after WWII — ideal for genealogists and Washington County school historians.
