About this piece
Congress of the United States, House of Representatives "Official Business—Free" envelope, franked with the printed, reproduced signature "Jennings Randolph, M.C." over a Washington, D.C. machine cancel dated May 19 (year partly obscured, 193_) with a "Notify your correspondents of change of address" slogan. Typed address to Mr. B. S. Cleaver, Davis, West Virginia. About 6.6 x 3.9 inches. Used, with toning, a torn-open back flap and light staining.
Jennings Randolph represented West Virginia in the House from 1933 to 1947 and later served in the Senate, where he championed the 26th Amendment lowering the voting age to 18. A nice West Virginia political and postal history piece.
