About this piece

The Pennsylvania Railroad 1950 pass, number HE 24584, issued to P. A. Croft, Engineman, Retired, Pittsburgh Division, good Over Entire System until December 31st, 1950. Pink card about 4 x 2.6 inches with perforated edges, printed in black and red, signed by Vice-President J. A. Appleton, countersigned in blue ink, and signed in pencil by the holder on the acceptance line at right. Condition: light toning and minor edge wear; no creases or tears visible.

The face lists the trains on which the pass was not valid (28, 29, 30, 31, 48, 49 and others) and notes it was not valid on train 33 except when destined west of Pittsburgh, with countersignature by C. G. Skuce, H. B. Simpson or W. W. Cunningham. The back carries the printed Conditions of use.

A nicely personal piece of PRR railroadiana naming a retired Pittsburgh Division engineman, for Pennsylvania Railroad, Pittsburgh and railroad pass collectors.
