Russian Scientists / Русские Ученые — Soviet IZOGIZ art postcards in their original printed folder titled in Russian, English, French and German. Folder about 4.2 x 5.8 inches. Five unused portrait cards are pictured. Good used condition: the folder has edge wear, spine toning and a small mark on the back; the cards are clean.

Cards included: Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (artist M. Langleben), Kliment Timiryazev (artist I. Chudnovsky), Nikolai Zhukovsky (I. Chudnovsky), Ivan Pavlov (I. Chudnovsky), and Dmitry Mendeleev (artist A. Alemasov). Each is a painted oval portrait on cream stock.

Backs carry the IZOGIZ hammer-and-sickle emblem and a short biography in Russian, English, French and German — Tsiolkovsky as a pioneer of rocket and jet theory, Pavlov's work on higher nervous activity, Mendeleev's periodic law, and so on.

A good set for history-of-science, space-pioneer and Soviet ephemera collectors.
