Vintage chrome postcard of the pool and grounds of the Fabulous Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, showing the Olympic pool, striped umbrellas, palm trees and sunbathers on the lawn in front of the hotel. A Mirro-Krome card by H. S. Crocker Co., Inc., San Francisco. Postally used with a 1963 Las Vegas, Nev. machine cancel and a 4c Lincoln stamp. Good used condition with a handwritten message and address on the back and no major creases visible in the scans.
The message is the fun part. Written to "Mom" in Tulsa, Okla., it reads in part: "2 1/2 Hours Tulsa to Las Vegas - 143 passengers, plus 5 stewardesses + 5 crew members, nice trip, food & shows Pearl Bailey & Harry James - Love Reg." A nice first-hand note on early-1960s air travel and the Las Vegas show scene.
The printed back reads "View of the grounds of the World Famous Fabulous Flamingo Hotel" and notes that the hotel's famous Olympic Pool "has been the setting for many of Hollywood's great film and TV productions." Along the bottom: "If you haven't seen the Fabulous Flamingo you haven't seen Las Vegas."
A great piece for Las Vegas, casino, mid-century hotel and roadside postcard collectors.
