About this piece
Original black and white snapshot photograph of five teenage girls in white sailor caps, T-shirts, rolled-cuff blue jeans and sandals marching in step across a stage. Behind them is a painted palm-tree backdrop and a large fringed set piece, and at left a pianist plays an upright piano. It appears to date from about the late 1940s to early 1950s. The print measures about 5.1 x 3.6 inches with a straight white border. Condition: light general handling wear consistent with age; see photos for details.
This appears to be a school or community stage revue or talent show, possibly a musical number with a tropical or nautical theme. The early cuffed denim worn by young women, the sailor caps and the homemade stage scenery make it a nice piece for collectors of vintage fashion, denim history, theater and school-life vernacular photography.
A single original print, not a reproduction.
