About this piece

Antique school report card for the term of 1916-1917, made out to pupil Dale Hancock, Second Grade, with "Brick Church" handwritten as the school building. The back is printed as a Promotion Certificate, filled in for Grade 3 and dated 1919. Measures about 3.4 x 5.2 inches. Condition: toned paper with a few brown spots and stains, creased and dog-eared corners, and general age wear.

Inside, the "Report of Work and Attendance" pages are filled in by hand for the months ending October 27, 1916 and November 24, 1916, with marks in Reading, Spelling, Number Work and Arithmetic, plus days absent, times tardy and behavior. Each month is signed by the parent; the signature appears to read Mrs. J. P. Ramale. The teacher's name on the cover appears to read Ada M. Wegner.

A nice small genealogy and one-room-school era piece with real names, dates and grades, the kind of family paper that rarely survives.
