About this piece
Three vintage Monongahela City Schools report cards from one family, each a folded card about 3.9 x 6.5 inches: Joan Whitlatch, First Grade, teacher Harriet Ford; Eleanor Whitlatch, 1st Grade, teacher Lois I. Sampson; and Eleanor Whitlatch, Fourth Grade, with two teachers named for the two semesters. Condition: light soiling and spotting, soft folds and edge wear, with handwritten grades and signatures throughout.
Inside, the cards record days present, absent and tardy plus grades by six-week period in subjects such as Conduct, Physical Training, Music, Memory Work, Penmanship, Reading and Literature and Art, with an Attitude Toward School Work checklist. Each report period is signed by the parent as Mrs. Wade Whitlatch.
The back carries a printed note to parents signed by Superintendent John H. Dorr, and Eleanor's first-grade card has a filled-in Certificate of Promotion to Grade 2 signed by her teacher. Printed by the Monongahela Publishing Co. A nice family group for genealogy or Monongahela, Pennsylvania local history.
