About this piece
A printed sepia-tone view postcard captioned "32133 Lincoln High School, Cleveland, O.," showing the large four-story brick and stone school building with steep gables, dormers, a cupola with flagpole, and an iron fence along the front walk. Standard size, about 5.5 x 3.5 inches, with a divided back. Pre-owned, fair condition: a diagonal crease runs across the lower left of the image and a crease shows on the back, with corner and edge wear and some toning.
Postmarked with a Cleveland, O. machine cancel dated Aug 22, 1910, 11:30 AM, with a green one-cent Franklin stamp (small paper scuff on the stamp). Addressed in purple pencil to Mary Esther Burton, Salem, Ohio, R.D. 5. The message, headed "Cleveland O. Aug 22" and beginning "Dear little Girl," says the writer is having a very nice time, will come home in a day or two, and has lots to tell, signed Esther Burton. A second number, 24297, is printed at the lower left of the front.
A nice early Cleveland school view for Ohio, school, and architecture collectors.
