A winged cupid with arrow leans over a gilt oval frame tied with a golden bow, surrounded by purple violets, a red embossed Love heart and a white lace-effect border on a gold ground. The verse reads "I send to you this bow of golden hue, to tell you that my love is true, be my Valentine do!" Standard size, divided back, vertical format. Bright, clean front with only light corner wear; see photos.

Unposted, no stamp. Inscribed on the back in purple pencil "Mary Esther" and "Grandmother." A small brown spot on the address side.
