About this piece
Small advertising souvenir booklet for the Hukill-Hunter Company of Pittsburgh, made of stepped card leaves bound with a cloth hinge strip at the left edge. The cover shows a halftone bird's-eye view captioned "Serie 1397 Pittsburg. 1900, Point View," looking over the rivers, bridges and steamboats at the Point. Measures about 4.2 x 2.3 inches closed. Used with light toning, a small stain on the back, and fraying to the cloth hinge.
Inside, one leaf shows a view of the company's multi-story building with its painted wall signs, captioned "Hukill-Hunter Co's store to-day." Another leaf is the firm's business card: Hukill-Hunter Company, Rail Road, Mill and General Supplies, Builders Hardware, 311-313-315 First Avenue, Pittsburgh, with an interlocked monogram marked "Incorporated 1902."
The wall signs on the building advertise builders' hardware, contractors' supplies, belting, packing and American Manila Rope. A neat piece of Pittsburgh business and industrial advertising history. Only some leaves are photographed; additional leaves may carry further views.
