About this piece
Vintage folding brochure, University of Pittsburgh – The Heinz Memorial Chapel, printed in brown on textured orange stock with a photo of the chapel lit at night. Measures about 9.5 x 5.4 inches folded. Used condition with light edge wear and a crease and scuffing at one corner of the back panel.
Inside, the text explains the chapel as a gift of the Heinz family, a memorial to Henry John Heinz (died 1919) and his mother Anna Margaretta Heinz (died 1899), built for interdenominational services in the Protestant tradition, with Catholic and Jewish services now also held. The back credits adaptations of words by Howard Heinz, John G. Bowman, former Chancellor of the University, and Stanton Belfour, and gives "Administration of the Chapel" naming Miss Savina S. Skewis, Mrs. Eleanore Bobb, chapel hostess Mrs. Marie Bluestone and custodian Mr. Elmer Eberle, with the University seal.
A good piece for Pitt alumni, Pittsburgh history and church architecture collectors.
