About this piece

The Milling World and Chronicle of the Grain and Flour Trade, Vol. XIII, No. 2, Buffalo, N.Y., September 14, 1885. A weekly milling-industry trade journal "published every Monday morning," measuring about 9.1 x 13 inches; the back cover is numbered page 40. Used with overall toning, edge wear, and heavy dark mottled staining across the back cover.

The front page opens with the comic poem "The Miller's Love" and editorial paragraphs on the trade, Southern wheat culture, free trade and protection, a Duluth flour shipment on the steamer Wallulla, and a circulation table of milling journals from N. W. Ayer & Sons' Newspaper Annual, listing papers in New York, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

The back cover is a full-page advertisement for Stevens Non-Cutting Roller Mills by the John T. Noye Manufacturing Co. of Buffalo, N.Y., with an engraved Rickerson Patent Improved Roller Mill from the Rickerson Roller Mill Co. of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a notice for Chas. Rakes, general mill furnisher of Lockport, New York.

A scarce piece of 1880s flour-milling and industrial advertising history. Pages have not been checked one by one for completeness.
