Vintage "Studies in Memorial Art" monument design booklet from Rock of Ages Corporation, Barre, Vermont, marked Series C and described in its foreword as the third edition. Rubber-stamped on the cover by a local dealer: W. H. Stoy, Consolidated Granite & Marble Co., California, Pa. About 6.2 x 9.1 inches. Condition: used, with water staining on the covers (heaviest on the back) and some staining at the top of the inner pages.
The inside opens with a full-page photograph titled "In the Shadow of Long Trestles," showing the Barre granite quarry and loading yards, facing a foreword describing the hammered, polished and rock-face finishes of Rock of Ages Barre granite and noting the designs were chosen for "the buyer of average means."
A nice piece of granite industry and funeral trade advertising, the kind of salesman's design book a monument dealer kept on the counter. Of interest to collectors of Vermont history, cemetery and gravestone art, stone carving and trade catalogs. The dealer stamp adds a Pennsylvania connection.
