About this piece

Original fold-out program, "Welcome to the City of Pittsburgh's July 4, 1975 Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration," with the red, white and blue American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976 star logo and "Pittsburgh A Bicentennial Community" on the back. Folds to about 8.4 x 3.6 inches. Used condition with fold lines, light toning and a couple of small spots.

Inside is the full day's schedule for downtown: official opening ceremonies with Mayor Pete Flaherty and the ringing of a 2,000-pound Liberty Bell replica at Fifth Avenue and Wood Street, three entertainment stages, a Children's Block, ethnic food and craft exhibits, special PAT bus exhibits, and Point State Park events including Fort Pitt Museum and the Point Park Fountain.

Great Golden Triangle department store content too, with activities listed at Joseph Horne's, Kaufmann's and Gimbels. Credits thank the Golden Triangle Association, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, PPG Industries, Allegheny Trails Council Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. A fun piece of Pittsburgh and Bicentennial history.
