About this piece

Vintage white border postcard numbered 221029, captioned "St. Paul's Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa," showing the round red brick church with its tall square tower and curved banks of windows. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, divided back. Postally used with a green 1 cent Washington stamp and a Cedar Rapids, Iowa cancel dated Aug 28, 1923. Condition is fair: creases at the upper corners, a small crease at top left, corner and edge wear and a spot on the back, see photos.

Published by The Bayliss Post Card Co., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The pencil message is dated Aug 26, 1923 and is addressed to Mr. W. ... Dickerson (as read), 1500 S. College St., Springfield, Ills.; the faint pencil is only partly legible.

The church is known as a late design by architect Louis Sullivan, making this a nice card for Prairie School and Sullivan architecture collectors as well as Cedar Rapids and Iowa Methodist history.
