About this piece
Antique undivided-back postcard captioned in red "Old Cathedral, St. Augustine, Fla.," published by E. C. Kropp, Milwaukee, No. 1636. The black-and-white view shows the Spanish colonial cathedral facade with its bell openings and the tall separate clock tower, with the plaza fountain, paths, benches and figures in the foreground. Vertical format with the white message space below the image. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Very good used condition: unposted and clean, with light corner wear and even toning on the back.
The back is the undivided style with a winged "Post Card" heading bearing the Kropp monogram, "This side is for the address," and a stamp box reading "Domestic one cent, foreign two cents." No stamp, postmark, message or address.
An early view of the oldest city's cathedral for Catholic church, St. Augustine or Florida collectors.
