About this piece

Antique divided-back postcard of the M.E. Church, Corydon, Ia., a red brick church with a pyramid-roofed bell tower, large rose window and a row of arched windows, framed by trees. Printed caption at upper right; publisher line "E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee" printed vertically in the white panel. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with visible creases across the image, corner and edge wear, and a small surface chip at upper right.

Postally used: Corydon, Iowa circle date cancel Sep 18, 1915, 6 PM, with a green 1 cent Washington stamp. Addressed in pencil to Miss Lilly Weaks (spelling uncertain), Staunton, Ill. The penciled message is dated Sept 17 and appears to describe arriving after driving 175 miles that day; the pencil is faint and partly hard to read.

A nice small-town Iowa church view for Wayne County, Methodist and early motoring-era collectors.
