About this piece

Vintage linen postcard captioned "Little Chapel of the Roses, Chula Vista, Calif. - 301", showing the ivy-covered brick chapel with its tall slate spire and rose window above stone steps flanked by flowering gardens and rose trees. Published by Hopkins News Agency, San Diego, Calif., a Natural Color Post Card made by E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee; back number 1414N. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with some toning and a stain spot at the upper left of the back, light corner and edge wear.

The back describes it as a wedding chapel in the hills above Sweetwater Valley near Bonita, about 3 miles east of Chula Vista and 12 miles southeast of San Diego, a replica of Lord Tennyson's chapel in England. Postally used from Chula Vista, Calif., Jun 28, 1948, with a green 1 cent Washington stamp, addressed to Mrs. C. McNaughton, Raymond, Illinois; the blue ink message fills the left side.

A nice Southern California wedding chapel view for San Diego County and chapel collectors.
