Vintage hand-colored postcard captioned "Baptist Church, Martinsville, Va.", showing the large columned classical church with an octagonal domed lantern at a street corner, brick houses alongside and an early automobile at the left edge. "Post Cards of Quality - The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.", with "Hand-Colored Post Card" printed on the back. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with an ink "X" marked over the houses at left, some blue-green marks in the sky, light corner wear and toning.
Postally used: Martinsville, Va. machine cancel Aug 30, 7:30 AM, 192_ (last digit unclear), with a red 2 cent Washington stamp. Addressed to Mrs. E.E. Shover (reading uncertain), 12th Ave. & McKinley St., Gary, Indiana. The ink message mentions having a fine time and going back next week, signed "Love, Louise" (reading uncertain). A small pencil notation "200" is on the back near the stamp.
