Antique divided-back postcard titled "Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, Mo.", card number 14175, showing the red brick seminary building with its tall spired clock tower behind a tree-lined street and picket fence. Published by Adolph Selige, St. Louis, Mo., Made in U.S.A. (imprint along the left edge of the back). Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with corner and edge wear, light surface scuffs and a small mark in the sky at upper right.
Postally used: St. Louis, Mo. machine cancel dated Oct 7, 1910, 5:30 PM, with a green 1 cent Franklin stamp. Addressed to Prof. Geo. Stohs (reading uncertain), c/o Jacob Bredehoeft (reading uncertain), Alma, Mo. The message in ink is dated Oct 1910 and runs over the correspondence side and upside down along the top.
This shows the Lutheran seminary's earlier South Jefferson Avenue campus, used before the move to Clayton in the 1920s. A good card for St. Louis, Missouri and Lutheran church history collectors.
