About this piece

Undivided back postcard of St. Michael's Church in Charleston, South Carolina, published by Raphael Tuck & Sons as Post Card Series No. 1046 "Charleston S.C." Color-printed front shows the church with its tall white steeple and clock, columned portico, streetcar tracks in the cobbled street, a telegraph pole, and men and women in Edwardian dress. Standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, unposted. Good antique condition with light corner and edge wear and overall toning on the back; a small pencil notation at the upper right of the back.

Front caption: "CHARLESTON, S.C. St. Michael's Church." Back is the undivided "POST CARD / THE ADDRESS TO BE WRITTEN ON THIS SIDE." layout with the royal coat of arms at upper left and the Tuck "Artistic Series" easel trademark in the stamp box. Side imprint reads: Raphael Tuck & Sons' Post Card Series No 1046 "Charleston S.C." Art Publishers to Their Majesties the King and Queen. No message, stamp or postmark.

A nice early Tuck view for collectors of Charleston and Lowcountry history, Raphael Tuck series cards, and historic American church architecture.
