About this piece

Printed color postcard of St. Peter's Church (Episcopal), St. Louis, Mo., from the divided-back era. The front shows the stone Gothic church with its large stained-glass window, ivy-covered walls, arched entry porch, a double-globe street lamp and utility poles along the corner. Standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, posted in 1912. Good vintage condition with light corner and edge wear, some toning, and handwriting and postmark on the back.

Front caption: "St. Peter's Church (Episcopal), St. Louis, Mo." Back: divided "POST CARD" back, "This space may be used for communication / The address only to be written here", with a small publisher logo and the number 276 at center.

Postmarked St. Louis, Mo., Sep 1912 (machine wavy-line cancel) with a green 1 cent Washington stamp. Message dated "St Louis Mo, Sep 17th 1912" to Mrs. Sarah Tilman (as it reads) of Modoc, Ill.: "I arrived home all O.K. I enjoyed my visit while there. Hoping this will find you all well. Your friend" signed with what appears to be "Wm Hack." A nice piece for Episcopal church, St. Louis, or Modoc, Illinois family history collectors.
