About this piece

Linen-finish souvenir folder from Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, with the imprint Woodcock Mfg. Co., Hot Springs National Park, Ark. on the front cover. The cover has big script "Hot Springs" lettering, a framed fountain vignette and red, white and blue star borders. Measures about 8.6 x 5.7 inches closed. Unposted; general handling wear, with small spots of paint and surface loss along the left edge of the back cover.

Inside, the photographed spread pairs a text page headed "Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas" (the 47 springs at the base of Hot Springs Mountain, the "City of Rest, Recreation and Recuperation") with a large-letter "Greetings from Hot Springs National Park Arkansas" view, small scenes set inside the letters and framed by a red ribbon.

The back cover carries a color linen view captioned "Lake Hamilton on the Broadway of America," showing a red car on the lakeside highway with white fence posts and a small boat on the water.

No date is printed. The linen finish, the styling of the car and the text ("over a century ago" from 1832) suggest the late 1930s to 1940s.
