About this piece

Pittsburgh Street Directory, "As revised since the consolidation of the Cities of Pittsburgh and Allegheny," 1920, McClung Printing Co., Pittsburgh, Pa. Small hardcover in plain dark brown cloth. About 4.7 x 6.3 inches. Used condition: cloth torn and frayed at the lower front joint, cracked front hinge with the mesh showing, front free endpaper chipped and torn at the lower corner, water spots on both covers, toned pages and foxed endpapers.

Opens with "Street Names That Have Been Changed Since 1916," listing old and new street names ward by ward — a real research tool for anyone tracing old Pittsburgh and North Side (former Allegheny City) addresses.

Owner's inscriptions: "Jas. R. Watkins," with South Side Pittsburgh addresses on Carson St. (as read) and South 16th St., his "J.R.W." monogram on the title page, and penciled notes on the endpapers including "1922 Wagner $133,000" and "1923 Seibert $300,000," apparently a contractor's or agent's job figures. Great for Pittsburgh genealogists, house historians and South Side collectors.
