About this piece
Lot of 4 vintage campaign pieces: three water-applied window decals from the same union print shop, plus a homemade student-election badge.
• SHELBY / GOVERNOR — shield-shaped die-cut decal with a blue halftone portrait of the candidate, about 5.8 x 6.2 inches; back printed "SAMPLE A-5, Rocket Red and Blue" with the printer's quantity price chart.
• VOTE FOR GARRETT For SENATE — die-cut pink-and-blue decal, about 8 x 6.1 inches; back printed "SAMPLE A-2" with the same price chart.
• Vote KELLERMAN MAYOR — long black strip decal, about 24.7 x 2.5 inches.
• VOTE FOR MARGIE CALMUS, SHE'S O.K. FOR S.G.A. — hand-lettered round card badge with red foil name letters and a safety pin taped to the back, about 4 inches across.
Used condition: fold creases across the Shelby and Garrett decals, a vertical line or crease on the Kellerman strip, light toning; the badge has toning and an aged tape strip holding the pin.
All three decals carry the Sign Pictorial A.F.L.-C.I.O. Union Label, Local 820 bug and "Moisten inside of glass then apply" instructions; two are numbered salesman's samples, which is unusual to find. No first names, states or years are printed, so these are sold as found — fun for political decal, union-label and printing-history collectors.
