About this piece
The Olde Frothingslosh Story — "By Sir Reginald Frothingslosh, VI" — a promotional folder from the Pittsburgh Brewing Co., Pittsburgh, Pa. About 3.8 x 8.4 inches folded, black-and-white cartoon illustrations. Good used condition, light toning and handling.
Front shows the castle-type Olde Frothingslosh Brewery "Upper-Crudney-on-the-Thames." Inside, "From Humble Beginnings" tells the tongue-in-cheek tale of Sir Reggie brewing a pale stale ale for King Henry VIII — so light the foam is on the bottom.
The back explains the joke: the idea came from radio personality Rege Cordic as a skit on KDKA, and Pittsburgh Brewing bottled a limited holiday run under the Olde Frothingslosh label. It promotes Iron City Lager and Tech Pilsener with pictures of both cases, and ends "December is International Olde Frothingslosh Month!"
A fun piece of Pittsburgh breweriana and radio history.
