About this piece

Two pieces from one Pittsburgh college student, Josephine Splendore, early 1930s. Good used condition overall: toning, light wear, and a torn top edge on the envelope.

1) Student's Copy schedule card, first semester 1933, Commercial Education department, about 6.1 x 4.4 inches. Lists her Pittsburgh address in Beechview and her parents' names, with courses and grades: Bookkeeping, Business Writing, Rapid Calculation, Typewriting, English Composition, Biology and Physical Education, 17 total hours. The back has her pencil notes, including Kaufmann's stockings, theme-paper instructions and a to-do list.

2) Handwritten invitation, about 7.3 x 10.5 inches, on stationery with an embossed crest, from the Delta Chapter of the Epsilon Eta Phi sorority inviting "Miss Splendor" to become a pledge, with a tea on Monday, December the ninth, at two o'clock at St. Mary's Hall. Signed Janet Wright, Corresponding Secretary. With its envelope addressed to Miss Josephine Splendor.

A nice small archive of 1930s women's college life in Pittsburgh — good for Italian-American, Pittsburgh and sorority history collectors or Splendore family researchers.
