About this piece

Lot of 3 original vintage snapshot photographs of people, two of them dated: a 1934 strip of three small portraits of a young girl, and an indoor snapshot written "Nov. 1942" on the front. Sizes run from about 3.4 x 5.4 in to 5.6 x 2.8 in. Used with age: light foxing and toning, edge wear, numbers on the backs, and the third photo is faded and soft-focus with staples at the top.

• 1934 portrait strip (5.6 x 2.8 in): three identical small portraits of a girl about 7 or 8 with bobbed hair, plaid dress with a big bow and an open book, striped curtain behind. "1934" printed under each frame. Pencil "427-2" and foxing spots on the back.

• Nov. 1942 snapshot (4.2 x 2.7 in): a smiling girl in braids and a plaid dress playfully grabbing a seated woman's head on a sofa, with a checkerboard, floor lamp and lace curtains. "Nov. 1942" handwritten on the front border. Light edge wear and a small spot at lower left.

• Man in a fedora (3.4 x 5.4 in): faded sepia snapshot looking up at a man in a fedora, hands on hips, with a second man in a hat blurred in the foreground. Undated; appears to be 1930s-40s. Back stamped "885"; staples remain at the top edge.

Candid vernacular photos of childhood, family life and period fashion and interiors.
