About this piece

Lot of 23 original vintage black and white snapshot photographs removed from a family album, each still mounted on its colored paper album mat in red, green, blue, purple, pink, gray or tan. The prints are about 3.3 x 4.3 inches. Used condition: soft focus on many images, some toning, light mat edge wear and a few small spots; no major tears seen.

Highlights include a view of the Horseshoe Falls at Niagara with river rapids and shoreline views, a church tower with a hanging sign that appears to read Methodist Church, a cat on the lawn with the typed caption Barney-cat, a water tower, brick schools and public buildings, a three-story brick apartment building, hillside houses, a bungalow behind a picket fence, and tree-lined residential streets with a period car.

Also included are some offbeat amateur frames: stacked cinder blocks, a close-up of cracked pavement with the photographer's shoe in the corner, and a backyard shed with laundry on the line. The cars and buildings suggest about the 1940s.

Except for the Barney-cat caption, no names, dates or places are written on the photos shown.
