About this piece
German printed color postcard, "Gruss von der Lühe – Kirschenland," showing a moored sailing vessel on a tree-lined river with blossoming trees along the banks. The back is headed "Hamburg-Stader-Altländer-Linie, Hamburg" with "Postkarte" and a divided back. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Posted with a green 5 pfennig Germania Deutsches Reich stamp; condition is fair, with rounded and chipped corners, edge paper loss, staining and an ink blot on the back.
The circular postmark is only partly legible (begins "STE..."; date reads 13.5, year unclear). The faded handwritten message and address are in German script and hard to read; parts of the address appear crossed out. The boat's hull carries lettering that appears to read "Minerva" but is not fully legible.
A collectible early 1900s German local view from the Lühe river and the cherry-growing country near Hamburg, of interest to German postcard and maritime collectors.
