About this piece

Early color printed postcard captioned "Painted Rocks and Cyphon, North Yakima, Washington," showing a large irrigation pipe (siphon) running down the rocky hillside on a trestle, a waterfall pouring down the cliff beside it, a figure standing at the base and a small boat on the river. Published by The Portland Post Card Co., Portland, Ore. & Seattle, Wash., number 5521, "Made in Germany," with the green Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition Seattle 1909 seal printed on the back. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, divided back. Posted; used condition with corner wear, edge chips and toning.

Postmarked North Yakima, Wash., Aug 1, 1908, with a flag machine cancel and a 1-cent green Franklin stamp (Series 1902). Addressed in typewriter to Mrs. H. C. Smith, Tolono, Illinois, and signed "A. H. S." with no other message.

A good early Yakima Valley irrigation view, and a nice cross-collectible for Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition collectors since the AYPE seal appears on the back.
