About this piece

Antique "Easter Greetings!" postcard with a hand-tinted photographic scene of two children on a garden path by a pond: a girl in a flowered bonnet with a basket of colored eggs sits on a giant egg, while a boy in a wide hat and sailor-collar suit drives a rooster harnessed to a little red cart, surrounded by yellow chicks and oversized eggs. Divided back marked "Serie 1445. Pub. by T. P. & Co., N.Y.," "Made in Germany" and "K. V. i. B. 12" along the left edge. Standard size, about 5.5 x 3.5 inches. Condition: light edge and corner wear with some toning; postally used.

Mailed with a green 1-cent Franklin stamp and a circular postmark reading "East ... Ohio, Apr 10(?), 3 PM, 1908" (part of the town name is unclear). Addressed in ink to Miss Mary Esther Burton, Salem, Col. Co., Ohio, and signed "Maggie [In care Ira Burton]."

From a family correspondence group addressed to Mary Esther Burton of Salem, Ohio.
