About this piece
A printed color view postcard captioned "L. E. A. & W. R. R. Bridge, Minerva, Ohio," showing a steel truss railroad bridge over a calm stream, with three figures standing on the deck and the bridge reflected in the water below. Publisher number B2839B4 at upper right. Standard size, about 5.5 x 3.5 inches, with a divided back. Used condition with light corner and edge wear and a postmark and handwritten message on the back.
Published by H. G. Zimmerman & Co., Chicago, with the ZIM logo at the lower left of the back. Postmarked Minerva, Ohio, Dec 24 (year appears to be 1913), with a green one-cent Washington stamp. Addressed to Miss Mary Esther Burton, Salem, Ohio, R.D. #5. The message to "Dear Cousin" jokes about the writer staying at Minerva, promises a visit when they come home, and says they are sorry to hear Rupert has been so sick, closing "Love to all from all."
L.E.A. & W. stands for the Lake Erie, Alliance & Wheeling Railroad. A nice small-town Ohio railroad view with a full family message.
