About this piece

Antique Christmas postcard reading "A Merry Christmas," showing two winged child angels, one in pink and one in green with gold-dot robes, seated on evergreen boughs and pulling the rope of a large embossed gold bell trimmed with holly, berries and pink Christmas roses, with ornaments hanging below. Heavily embossed with gold highlights. Vertical divided back marked "Ser. 663" and "Printed in Germany," standard size about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. No stamp or postmark. Condition: used, with light edge and corner wear and pencil writing on the back.

The back carries a pencil inscription beginning "from" and including the name "Rupert" and the year "1909." Faint pencil writing in the address area appears to read "Miss M. E. Burton." With no stamp or postmark, it appears to have been hand delivered.

No publisher name is printed on the card, only the series number. A bright gold-embossed angel Christmas card from a family correspondence group sent to Mary Esther Burton.
