About this piece

Antique Valentine postcard reading "To My Valentine," showing a girl dressed as a flower, with a petal collar, petal hat and fringed petal skirt, beside a tall flower stem ending in a deep red heart. Divided back, standard size about 5.5 x 3.5 inches, posted with a green one-cent Franklin stamp. Condition: used, with edge and corner wear, light soiling, a small spot near the lower edge of the back, and handwriting on both sides.

The circular postmark appears to read Darlington, February, with the year appearing to read 1910; the state is not legible. Addressed to Mary Ester (as written) Burton, Salem, Ohio, R.F.D. #5. The writer says "Hello every body," reports getting home on the 5th, asks her to tell mama, asks whether they have been out sleighing, notes plenty of snow, and signs "love to all, Lizzie." "Lizzie" is also written faintly in pencil on the front.

No publisher or artist is named on the card. A charming flower-girl Valentine from a family correspondence group sent to the Burton family of Salem, Ohio.
