About this piece

Antique Easter postcard reading "Easter Greetings," showing a fluffy yellow chick beside its cracked white eggshell on a dark background, inside an embossed gold-and-red ornamental frame, with pussy willow and catkins below on a pink-striped ground. Embossed, divided back marked "Printed in Germany," standard size about 5.5 x 3.5 inches. No stamp or postmark. Condition: used, with light edge and corner wear, small white flecks of surface loss on the chick image, and pencil writing on both sides.

The back is dated in pencil "Mar 27, 1910," inscribed "From Grandma Burton," and addressed to Mary Esther Burton. "Grandma B" is also written in pencil below the greeting on the front. With no stamp or postmark, it appears to have been hand delivered.

No publisher is named on the card. A nicely detailed German-printed Easter card from a family correspondence group sent to Mary Esther Burton.
