About this piece

Vintage chrome occupational postcard showing a worker in a cap and overalls polishing marble with a large belt-driven polishing machine, captioned on the back "Polishing marble in the shops of the Vermont Marble Co., Proctor, Vermont." Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, postally used in 1961. Condition is fair to good: corner and edge wear with small chips, a bent lower right corner, and a full handwritten message on the back.

The back invites visitors to the famous Marble Exhibit at Proctor, open daily from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Made only by Tichnor Bros., Inc., Boston 15, Mass.

Postmarked Hampton, N.H., July 21, 1961, with a 3 cent Statue of Liberty stamp, addressed to Greenville, Illinois. The writer, signed Melba, describes an afternoon on the beach in New Hampshire. A nice industrial interior card for Vermont, quarrying and occupational collectors.
