About this piece
Vintage linen postcard, 106, "The Drake, Chicago's Wonderful Hotel." A bird's-eye view of the Drake Hotel with its rooftop sign, the lakefront high-rises along Lake Shore Drive, Lake Michigan and a sunset sky. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches, postally used in 1955. Condition is fair to good: a crease and paper lift at the upper right corner, light corner wear, and a handwritten message on the back.
Curt Teich & Co. "C.T. Art-Colortone" genuine curteich card, distributed by Ideal Distributing Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois. The back reads "The Drake, Lake Shore Drive, Chicago," describing the hotel at the junction of Lake Shore Drive and Upper Michigan Avenue overlooking Lake Michigan.
Postmarked Chicago, June 21, 1955, with a 2 cent Jefferson stamp, addressed to Greenville, Illinois. The writer dates it 6/21/1955 and mentions trips to Decatur and Elgin. A nice linen for Chicago and vintage hotel collectors.
