Vintage postcard captioned "U.P. Church, New Concord, Ohio. Hand-Colored," a sepia-and-rose tinted view of the large brick church with its square bell tower, two great Gothic stained glass windows and globe street lamps at left. Published by The Nomis Mfg. Co., Inc., 33 Union Square, New York City. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition: corner wear and toning, with a full handwritten letter covering the back; no stamp or postmark.
The pencil/ink letter is headed "New Concord Ohio Dec 31st 1923," addressed "My Dear Friend," and runs over both halves of the back. The writer says they are a little late writing this year, asks if the friend is still living in the same place, mentions visiting a Mrs. Lemon (reading uncertain) whose family are "members of our Congregation," and reports "we recd 23 new members at last Communion and have a new Pastor, we think he is grand." Additional lines are written along the top edge.
A small-town Ohio church card with a congregation-news letter, for Presbyterian, Muskingum County or Ohio collectors.
