About this piece

Vintage linen postcard captioned "First Baptist Church - Inglewood, California," card 4B-H423, a genuine Curteich-Chicago "C.T. Art-Colortone" card. The bright view shows the white Spanish-style church with its arched bell tower, stained glass windows, "First Baptist Church" lettering on the wall and the long wing at right. Standard size, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition: corner wear, a small chip and toning at the left edge, light soiling; postally used with a faint pencil message.

The back caption reads "First Baptist Church, Inglewood, Calif., Corner Grevillea and Binford - A Friendly Church where Christ is Always First and Visitors are Always Welcome," with "attended ch here" added in ink at the top. It carries a violet 3c Jefferson stamp and a wavy-line machine cancel, 3:30 PM, dated in the 1950s (partly legible). Addressed in pencil to Mrs. Ada Hemken, Walshville, Ill.; the long pencil message is very faint.

A mid-century Southern California church linen for Baptist, Los Angeles County or California collectors.
