About this piece
Antique undivided-back postcard captioned "First Reformed Church.", a black and white halftone view of a white frame church with a louvered belfry and spire, a round window in the tower, shade trees and a tall utility pole. "Photo by" credit at lower left of the image (name hard to read). Publisher imprint on the back: "Altamont News." Vertical format, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with toning, corner wear and rounding, small dark specks in the image, and edge wear.
The back reads "Post Card. This Side for Address Only." with a plain "Stamp Here" box. It is not postally used; a later ballpoint address to a Mrs. Crouse in Springfield has been written on it, and there is a pencil notation "#24 4.00" at the top.
A scarce small-town church view from the undivided-back era for Reformed Church and early postcard collectors.
