About this piece

Antique undivided-back postcard, Rotograph Co. card A 1749, captioned "First Presbyterian Church, (built 1761) Wilkes-Barre, Pa.", a black and white view of the stone church with its tall square bell tower, a utility pole and bare trees in front. Vertical format, about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Used condition with light toning, a faint stain in the sky, minor corner wear, and period ink writing on the front.

As required on undivided backs, the message is written on the front: "I am having a fine time, Sept. 8, 1905, H.H." The back carries a Wilkes-Barre, Pa. machine cancel dated Sep 9, 1905, 2:30 AM, a 1 cent Franklin stamp from the Series 1902, and a Mahwah, N.J. receiving mark dated Sep 9, 1905. Addressed to Mrs. William Diederick (reading uncertain), Mahwah, Bergen Co., N.J. Imprint: The Rotograph Co., N.Y. City (Germany).
