Printed color postcard of First Lutheran Church, Stoughton, Wis., published by E.C. Kropp of Milwaukee, card No. 650. The front shows the church's tall corner bell tower with open belfry and pinnacled spire, a large round stained-glass window on the gable end, arched entry stairs and an unpaved street. Divided back, standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, posted from Stoughton in the 1910s. Good vintage condition with corner wear, light toning and spotting, pencil writing on the front sky and a full pencil message on the back.
Front caption: "First Lutheran Church, Stoughton, Wis." Imprint at bottom: "E.C. Kropp, Publ. Milwaukee. No. 650." Faint pencil on the front reads "Guess you remember this place."
Machine-cancel flag postmark from Stoughton, Wis., Jun 28 (year partly struck) with a green 1 cent Washington stamp. Pencil message dated Stoughton, June 27 (year appears to be 1916), to Miss Inga Olsen, Gratiot, Wis., R-2, opening "Dear Inga" and mentioning the Gratiot folks, church, an auto ride and Lida Johnson, signed Mary. A nice card for Stoughton, Norwegian-American Lutheran and Wisconsin family history collectors.
