About this piece

Printed color postcard of the M. E. Church (South), the Methodist Episcopal Church South, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The front shows the red brick church with its corner tower, twin pedimented gables with domed corner turrets, tall white columns and stained glass windows. Divided back, standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, posted in 1919. Fair to good vintage condition with corner and edge wear, toning and some spotting on the back.

Front caption: "M. E. Church (South), Tulsa, Okla." Back has a green "Post Card" heading, a small printed number at left edge, a red 2 cent Washington stamp and a wavy machine cancel dated May 26, 1919 (town in the cancel is not fully legible).

Pencil message headed "Tulsa Okla." to Miss Edna in Vandalia, Ill.: "Hello Edna, Am having a fine time. How are you? Is school out yet? Is it raining there, it has been here but we haven't been out in any of it." Signed "as ever" with a hard-to-read name. An old pencil dealer price is on the back.

A good early Tulsa view with a named Southern Methodist congregation for Oklahoma and Methodist history collectors.
