About this piece
Lot of 5 vintage color photographs (6x4 prints) documenting a US/NATO SFOR peacekeeping deployment at a Balkans airfield, likely Bosnia and Herzegovina, circa 1999. Four photos show a camouflage-painted UH-1N/Bell 205-style helicopter clearly marked 'SFOR' on the fuselage and tail, parked on the tarmac against a backdrop of mountains and a small town. Personnel in flight suits and fatigues are shown standing beside the aircraft, walking toward it, and posing as a group of six in front of it — including a woman in camouflage fatigues holding a blue folder, possibly Col. Patricia Jane Harrington herself. One photo captures the helicopter's rotor and tail boom shadow cast dramatically across the tarmac with the valley view beyond. A fifth photo shows two soldiers, one wearing a green beret and body armor, the other in US-style BDUs and patrol cap, overlooking the same valley with military vehicles in the background — location possibly Bosnia or Kosovo. Prints are color, sharp focus, no borders noted; a related photo in this set has a 07/99 date marking on the back. Minor handling wear consistent with age; please review photos for condition. Associated with the estate of USAF Col. Patricia Jane Harrington. A strong, cohesive mini-archive of NATO Balkans peacekeeping operations. Please review photos for condition.
